Dalton mowing grass

I woke up at a little before 6 this morning. Yesterday morning I fell back to sleep after I sent James off to work. I am determined not to have a repeat of that today. Perhaps a nap later, though, depending on how must gets accomlished in the morning.

I send James off to work. He really liked the granola bars that I made from a recipe at Betty's Kitchen on YouTube. I did not pack enough yesterday so I made sure he had more today. I also made his sandwiches for lunch and made two more ahead for tomorrow lunch.

I look on the menu and see that quesadillas are on the menu for lunch. I suppose I'll have one and then fill the rest of the way up with salad. For supper we have planned egg salad sandwiches and pretzels. We all really like egg salad. Each Thursday I have planned sandwich night. So, it's fun to come up with different sandwiches to have sometimes. Sometimes we just have normal meat and cheese sandwiches.

I begin the eggs boiling on the stove and hop in the shower. I will be pushed to get out faster with eggs on the stove, although I do ask the children to look out just in case.

After my shower, I gave Gloria (3) her bath and then filled out some bills. While doing this, I ran across a Bible verse that was very encouraging! Philippians 1:27Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent , I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries : which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God. By this time it is 8:40 and we're 10 minutes past schedule. aaaahhhh!

Dalton works on his US History while I do grammar and spelling with the 8,10 and 12 year olds. Then they work on penmanship while Dalton works on writing. He decides to write on a Russian composer, Alexander Vorodin. Why? Because he couldn't think of anything to write on and so he opens the encyclopedia to him. Ummm, okay!

During all this time, Brittany uses her new camera that she got for graduation and also plays with Gloria (3) and Joy-Anna (5). She's good with that. The littles enjoy playing with her as I hear many giggles from the livingroom.

We take a break as I have a business call and so the children scatter for a little computer time. I go change the laundry. It looks cloudy so I'll hang the wash inside and use the dryer.

I corral the 8, 10, and 12 year olds back for us to work on math. This will be the last of school until after our lunch break. Whew! I am thankful for a break. Although my break consists filling out some online surveys.

Brittany makes a lunch of bean and cheese quesadillas. We have this with salsa. I mix up the egg salad for supper tonight.

I go over a math lesson with Joy-Anna (5) and try to get the computer to play a math DVD for Samuel (12) but it wouldn't work. So I taught him the next lesson without the DVD.

We work at finding an important paper that I needed James to sign and mail out that was lost. We found it in Gloria's(3) purse! Now, why didn't we think of that sooner?

While some of us were searching for that, two of the boys clean their better. Ah, much better! Thursdays is "bedroom day" for us as this is the day we detail the bedrooms. So the girls' room and my room will need to be done later.

It's my week to do laundry. I have four loads to do today. Brittany is on kitchen detail this week so she does kitchen cleaning except for the dishwasher as that's rotated daily amongst us.

I go to lie down with the littles to nap for an hour and James calls to announce that he's stopping in. So we get up in time to greet him. I get him to sign the paper before he leaves so I can put it safely into the mailbox. It's safer with the USPS than it is with us! Ha!

At 1:45pm Joy-Anna then decided that she'd like to wash dishes. She can make messes but she likes to clean too. So Brittany fills a sink up with soapy water for her to wash dishes in.

I perk some coffee, deciding that I wouldn't be getting a nap and get on the computer a bit. Then, I decide that I just have to lie down! So I tell one of the children to get me up by a certain time. That person, who will remain un-named, did not wake me at stated time so I overslept by 30 minutes.

I spend a bit of time in the laundry room. I decided that the homemade laundry soap was too thick so I added some more warm water and stir it up. Two more loads to get in today still~!

James comes home early (5:00pm) and that was a nice surprise! We sit and chat a bit and then go outside to work. He works on our broken clothes line, Dalton mows the grass, Jesse picks up trash and Samuel and I till the garden. Samuel and I did most of it but James finished it off. We have potatoes to plant and they should have been in the ground already. Perhaps they will get in on Saturday. Brittany "worked hard" taking pictures of nature and planes out in the field. The little girls just play in the freshly tilled garden dirt. The dirt does look pretty, freshly tilled. I tilled it bare-footed. :D

So, here we are! We will have supper at about 7:30- late tonight- and then will have family time. Our usual routine of Bible study, reading and other hobbies take place until bath time. I need to rotate the laundry one more time and fold what is ready. I also need to research a recipe for pickled eggs as James wants some.

The younger children go to bed at 9:45 and the olders stay up until 11:00 as a favorite show comes on they like to watch in peace. We parents turn in at about the same time. Good night y'all~!

Wow! You made me tired just reading about your day. I would love to get out and plant in the garden, but we can still have frost for 2 more months.

Have a wonderful evening with your family.
