September 7, 2012

Hello Everybody! I hope that you all are having a good week. This week is so extra busy with going to the hospital with Mama each day. Today we go back for 2.5-3 hours of extra fluids. After chemo she has to go back two days after for fluids to protect her kidneys. They have this miracle medicine that makes you not get sick to your stomache but she has zero appetite now. I told her that she needs to eat even when she doesn't feel like it so she doesn't lose weight. She has her radiation each evening this week so her day consists of driving back and forth to the hospital. One good thing is that Mama's car gets good gas mileage. She drives a little Volkswagon Beetle. It takes some getting used to, to drive her little car compared to our 15 passenger van!

School is going well. The children are learning and that's great. That's something that I have to get in before I take Mama each day. The children do independant work in the afternoons and have free time. Also, they have their chore lists so they know what to do. Praise the Lord for a grown daughter that is willing to help! She makes sure everyone is safe and sound. Last night she cooked for me. She volunteered, of which I thought was so sweet.

Mama's hair is suppose to start falling out fast within a week. We picked up two turbans in the shop at the hospital.  This is going to be so hard.

Okay, so with the menu things are going well. Planning ahead certainly helps matters.

9/7/12

Breakfast: peanut butter bread with syrup   $1.50

Lunch: breakfast bake $2 (eggs from backyard, bread from thrift store, deer sausage was free, frozen potatoes) or banana shake $1.50 (with powdered milk, bananas, peanut butter, pudding mix and ice)

Supper: upside down pizza  $8.50

Beverages: milk, tea, coffee $1.25

Total for today: $14.75

Under this month by: $14.30

Total consumed in food was $91.75 for the first week of September. That's not bad at all for our large family! We did not eat too many beans or soups and I think the meals were well balanced. I would like to add more fruit in the menu. The fruit isn't so great this time of year. I can't wait for some fresh apples and oranges! Peaches and melons are best for us right now. Bananas are always great.

oh Susan, You do have so much going on right now. Its wonderful for your daughter to choose to help out so much, it's a testament to how she's been raised. I'll continue to keep you in my prayers.

Blessings,
Heather
