A Good Start

Happy Tuesday, everyone! I am in hopes of a very good and productive day today.
Yesterday went fairly well. We all woke up and had some oatmeal bars for breakfast and then once we were all dressed, we did some school. Before we knew it, lunch time was here. We made sandwiches with cream cheese spread. After lunch it was time to take Joy-Anna to the dentist. One of the receptionist laughed and stated that she believes we are there almost as much as they are. Yeah, you're telling me!

After the dentist we ran by my favorite thrift store. I am SO SUPER GLAD we did! I have been talking of the perfect denim skirt for the longest time. I have wanted one that was the perfect length, did not have slits but was wide in the bottom to move around enough. I also like skirts with pockets to put things in while working. I found it yesterday! :D Only thing is this. I can fit in it but it would fit a lot better about 7 pounds from now. I am motivated! I told Brittany that once I fit into this skirt well then I will be at my goal.

I also found some Southwestern Company books. I am a sucker for their books! These are books in the Ask Me Why series. I got these books for .25 each! I was shocked. Those are yard sale prices- not thrift store prices but I was THRILLED. :)
Then in the kitchen section I found one of those Pampered Chef adjustable measuring cups. I always thought they looked nifty so I was glad to find it for 50 cents.
Then the other favorite find were a set of 13 or 14 children's sized cups. I got them all for $3. There's enough colors in the set for each of our children to have their own color. I also found a vinyl table cloth to go on the back deck picnic table this spring. The tablecloth shouts springtime and is so cheery looking. I found another necklace to add to our costume jewelery. It's pink... I thought of spring time again. :)

Next we made a quick trip to the grocery store. I stocked up on their shampoos. A long time friend stocks the drug aisle in this store. I talked with her a bit and in passing, mentioned I am looking for a good deal on toothpaste. She pointed me to the Close-Up brand. I was on sale for 2/$3. Also, there were some boxes with a bonus, full sized tube in it. So basically we got the tubes for .75 each. Swwweeeettttt. :)
This came out of my stock up money. "What???", you ask. I am beginning this month to build up our pantry. I want to get up at least enough stock to last two months. I will have to share along the way how I do it.

While we were in town, the children here did some chores. As always, Brittany did an excellent job of babysitting. Dalton is getting to where he helps a lot too. It was nice coming home to most of their chores being done.

After a little rest, it was time for me to do my chores. Once I knew it, it was time to begin supper. When James got home, he helped me in the kitchen. We had chinese food and it was the first time I made homemade egg rolls. They turned out great but I did learn that you have to really watch them because they brown fast!

After supper we had devotions. We are in the book of Joel now. We sang a few songs and went over our family memory verses.

After devotions, I watch a few shows of Take Home Chef, James researched prices for pool supplies and the children watched M*A*S*H. The next thing we knew, it was time for bed! Time flies quickly...

Those are some great deals at the thrift store. I haven't heard of those books. I know what you mean about the perfect denim skirt. I finally found one and love it.

What did you put in your egg rolls? They sound delicious. I have been trying new recipes.

Have a great day with your family.

Susan you and I are on the same page I think about stocking up. I don't have a lot of money, quite the opposite but I am trying hard to get some supplies built up as we are depleted here. This week in the paper mayo and pasta sauce were on sale, and I had coupons so I had to get a few extra. I am hoping to be able to do this each week and get ahead. I don't know if you coupon or not but I do and as far as toothpastes go I a few months ago got 7tubes of toothpaste and 5 or 6 toothbrushes all for about 4.00 The way I did this was to collect coupons for 1.00 off toothpaste or .75off toothbrushes or vice versa and then when they went on sale for .99 each I used every coupon I had, turns out at full price I would have spent over 43.00, so I feel blessed to be able to have saved that much. I still have plenty of toothpaste but again am collecting coupons for .75-1.00 off my way of thinking is that if I can get them for free and we have plenty then the extra will make nice additions to the christmas shoeboxes that our church puts together every year during VBS!! The boys get a great joy about being able to fill up the container at VBS, this year it was a rocket ship that the kids filled with shoebox items, and they did this every day at the begining of VBS, my youngest son is so excited to fill up the container that I have to be careful with him or he would give away the farm if I didn't watch him!! lol But its a nice way for them to learn compassion and understanding!! Anyway all that to say good job and good luck with stocking up. I'm on board with you and am looking forward to garden season for the same reason!!
Blessings!!!
