Yesterday (Friday) was a usual day except for two things. Or should I say, the absence of two people? Brittany (17) and Bethany (8) went to a lady's house from church to have a girls day in celebration of Brittany finishing school this year. The girls really did appreciate the good times they had. The ones of us at home still worked on a fair amount of school. We had our usual chores and fun. We had upside-down pizza for lunch and watche Courageous before bed.

Today was a full day. James, Dalton, Samuel, Bethany and I left a little after eight and ran errands. We stopped at two yard sales on the way into town. The first was pretty good. The boys picked up a Nerf gun and two bags of Legos. The Legos were $4 at the yardsale but retail for $40 on Amazon! I bought a book on the solar system. I like this book because it still included Pluto as a planet. The second yard sale was no fun. Everything was marked up highly-- not yard sale prices at all.

Once in town we stopped at our local feed and seed store. I love that place! We bought seed, plants and mushroom compost for our vegetable garden. Next we stopped at the grocery store so I could pick up a cheap breakfast of pop-tarts and Gatorade.
Next we headed over to Home Depot to pick up a box to hange a new light over the kitchen sink, some flowers and strapping to re-strap the deck chairs.

We stopped by Goodwill while James went over to Big K to get pool salt, of which they did not have. In Goodwill, I found a princess dress-up outfit, a Dora purse and Dora backpack to put away in the gift box for two of the girls' birthday later this summer. I found two books, one on gardening and another on allergies.

Once we were finally home, it was lunch time. We had leftover taco soup and upside-down pizza. We potted some flowers and set those out. I suddenly felt quite tired and so took a nap on the couch. WOW! I think that was the best nap I've had in years. I felt so good when I woke up!

After a nap, I went outside and moved around some concrete planters and planted flowers in those. James was amazed at how I had moved them, with stacking them. I told him I thought smarter instead of working harder to get the job done. I'll have to post pics of that sometime.

James tilled the garden, I planted some potatoes and pulled weeds. I observed the compost bin...I saw no worms but pill bugs. While pill bugs are typical in compost piles, I was hoping to see works. I did find a redworm in the garden so I took it as a sign of a good gardening year. :D

While we were doing all of this, there was a mixture of the children mowing grass, cleaning out the van, climbing trees, playing in the water and "helping" us plant flowers and potatoes.

I came in and made supper. We had ham and shrimp fried rice. After supper, I sat outside and talked with James while he painted a deck chair and restrapped it. It sits very nicely and will be great to use! We walked around to the pool side, observing what we need to do.

After all of this outside work was done, the inside needs help! Perhaps in between services tomorrow? Nope, we'll be gone again all day. The Monday begins with Samuel getting two teeth pulled at 8:30 and then there's school. It'll get done, bit by bit- here a little, there a little.
Once it was too dark to work outside anymore we came in, had showers, brushed teeth, watched a little of the new show...something about strange afflictions and then went to bed. It was another busy but good day.

I would love to have your warmer weather. As I read this, it is snowing outside. It isn't sticking to the ground, but still snow in the middle of March?

Have a wonderful day with your family.

Your day sounds a lot like ours except we didn't get any garden planted. We did however work outside most of the day. There seems like an overabundance of work to get done outside. But like you said, we'll get it done one day at a time. Enjoy your day and God bless.

What kind of plants did you get for the planters? When you do your garden, do you pair up certain flowers with your veggies? Just curious, always eager to learn something new. Thanks!

Heather, no I haven't paired flowers up with vegetable plants to maximize pollination. One year I might actually get to that! Have a great day in the Lord!
