Mom's ENT Visit and a Plea

The ENT doctor told Mom about her options. She could have surgery on her throat and have the contents removed plus have radiation and chemo. Option two is to just have radiation and chemo. Considering how catastrophic the surgery is, she is choosing just radiation and chemo. Either way her odd are the same so why have the surgery, of which also can give you a lot of problems such as infection, etc. Not to mention that the surgery would put her in ICU for a night and in the hospital 1 1/2 weeks.
The doctor said that she has 30%-60% percent chance of survival (being cancer-free). I am supposing that you could take the average of 45%.... less than half a chance.

I have to tell you that this makes me so angry. This could have been prevented by not smoking. I know it is hard to quit smoking. I quit over 14 years ago. It is hard but it is doable! My biological dad passed away at 51 years old of lung cancer. My mom is only 58.

Quitting smoking will not kill you but not quitting can. With setting health issue aside, you can save SO MUCH MONEY by quitting. If you smoke, please stop before it's too late. God does not want you to do anything to your bodies to harm yourself.... and your family. You always think that doing things to your own body only affects yourself and not anyone around you. That's a lie. I cannot tell you how much hurt our hearts have endured these past few weeks. It's so unfair to others. It's unfair to yourself. If you love those around you, please do not make them watch you die when it could have been prevented. I have witnessed cancer overcome loved ones. It is not pretty.

On the same note, if you are overweight, take control of your health and do something about it! We  lost another friend due to obesity. He is the SECOND friend who passed away at only TWENTY NINE YEARS OLD due to being extremely overweight.

Dear Susan, I will definitely pray for your mom and your family. I know how upsetting this is. My own mom has been smoking since she was 4 years old, she is 51 now. She has had two maybe three heart attacks that the doctors attribute to her smoking. It would not surprise me in the least to learn that she has cancer in the next few years.

I am so sorry about your mom. Quitting smoking is hard. I quit about 24 years ago but I still remember how hard it was. I pray your mom recovers from this and that she quits smoking. God bless.

Susan,

I'll be keeping your mom and your whole family in my thoughts and prayers. I know, first hand, how difficult the diagnoses of cancer for your Mom is for you. Know I'm lifting you up in prayer, my friend. I love ya and please let me know if I can do anything...I mean it...not just words. Mary-Jane

Hi, Susan,I will be praying for your family and your mom. My dad died at only 55 not from cigarettes but drinking. I wish he would have been able to quit.

Hi Susan,
Sorry to hear about your mom. I lost my mom at 58. I still miss her everyday. She died of colon cancer.
I ofter wonder if she had gone to the Dr. yearly if she would still be
here. No use dwelling on the past. I will keep your mom and your family in my prayers.
