Happy Birthday, Jesse!

Today my youngest son turns 8 years old. It's hard to think of him being that age so quickly! That's the age I was when we moved here to SC from Tennessee. I remember the day I went in to have him that the weather was slightly warm. Then while in the hospital the weather turned bitter cold. I didn't have a coat and my mom was concerned about that. So she bought me one. I still wear that coat.

I decided to get an epidural during labor with him. BIG MISTAKE! Somehow the epidural took to where I could still feel e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g but I was paralyzed. With not being able to move, this made dealing with the pain a whole lot worse. I felt totally helpless. Still he was born all safe and sound and so all was well.

We went home the next day and the weather was indeed bitter cold. I remember how strong the wind was blowing and remember trying to keep him snug and warm. I was paranoid to get him out in the cold. He was the first baby we brought home in our old Suburban.

He was such a sweet and good baby. He was a champ at nursing and was the easiest for *me* to learn to nurse. I was thankful for this. He was such a good baby in church and hardly made a peep. This was a life saver as when he was first born we were in the process of finding a new church home.

Jesse's has made things so easy for us! He's such a delight in our house and tries to do his best at whatever he needs to do. Occasionally he has to be reminded to not whine and he does better for a time. He really tries. :)

I can tell he's going to be a man's man. Phonics and math are a lesser priority for him. Why, don't you know that there's much to do outside that's more important? He'd live outside if only I'd allow him. I couldn't imagine him in an office one day but we'll see what God has in store. Whatever it may be, I am sure it will be something grand. I just hope he reads well first. :D

Happy Bday to your son. He sounds very much like my second oldest son (he'll be 8 in May). He loves working, he's a very hard worker. Always has been. It's almost as if he's never been a child, always a grown up, lol. The reading thing is him to. We're working to get him on target with reading. You should check out Bartonreading.com if you think there maybe a 'reason' he's not reading yet. Blessings to you, I enjoyed reading your blog. Trying to decide if I should move mine (homeschoolblogger.com/mom244now) over here. Seems there are plenty of hsers here and an easier program to work with, :-)
