Having Trouble Being a Stay-at-Home Mom?

THIS WAS IN REPLY TO ONE THAT WANTED ADVICE ON A LOCAL MESSAGE BOARD. I THOUGHT I'D POST IT HERE AS WELL.

I think everyone is right on with having a to do list. I think that it is a must as well! I'd go as far as making out a loose schedule. Even babies like schedules! I personally think that everyone should have a routine in their life. Wink
Treat it as you would a job. Get up and get dressed every day, down to your shoes. I think that the job of a mother and housewife deserves more than being barefoot and sweatpants! If you wear make-up, then put it on daily. Fix your hair as well. This sets the tone for you meaning business. I joke around that my putting on my make-up is a public service. Cheesy

Have a morning and night routine. Set goals for when to do laundry, to have the kitchen cleaned after each meal, to tidy the messiest rooms so many times a day. Have special playtimes with the baby. Read to the baby at a set time each day. Really be aware of their developement and what you can do, in play, to spark good developement.

Make lists for your menus. Learn of new ways of cooking. Do things to make your home a home. Perhaps you could pick up sewing something for the home or learn about arranging areas well to be more organized and sufficient. Take pride in your home, yourself and your family. I am not talking of the worldly pride listed in the Bible as sin. This is the kind of pride that makes you feel good that you've taken special interest in your world and what you feel in your heart matters most in life.

It is a heart issue after all. Put your heart where your treasure is. Is your heart with your child, home and husband? Is your heart with a career? What do you find to matter the most. Put your whole heart into it and take pleasure in reaping good results.

I wanted to add that it's good for us all to have breaks and have something to enjoy but we all really should watch what our lust of the flesh is. For some it is vanity of self, for some it is the television, for some it is putting effort into many other things that does not hold eternal value. It can be harmless things but it becomes harmful when done too much, or becomes the apple of your eye over other matter. We all fight the lust of the flesh-- or at least we should. Work is just that- work! Still, it feels good to fight what we want to do and put in it's place what we should do. That is a good feeling.
